Anspach and Hobday: Silver Triumph at CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Britain

We’re delighted to announce that LBA member Anspach and Hobday has made history by winning Silver for their exceptional brew, The IPA, at the 2024 CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain competition. This significant achievement marks the first time in 33 years that a London brewery has made it to the Supreme Champion judging, breaking a long-standing drought that dates back to 1991.

The last London beer to reach the top three was Fuller’s ESB, which secured silver overall, showcasing the historical prestige of London brews. Anspach and Hobday’s victory is a reminder of their dedication and skill in crafting quality beers that resonate with both judges and beer enthusiasts alike.

Competing against a formidable lineup of brews, Anspach and Hobday’s The IPA stood out with its remarkable balance and flavour profile. The competition was fierce, with only two points separating them from the gold medalist, Crouch Vale Amarillo from Essex. In a tightly contested field, Green Jack’s Trawler Boys and Scotland’s Loch Lomond Southern Summit rounded out the medal winners, highlighting the exceptional quality of beers being produced across the UK.
