London Brewers Alliance Announces New Mentorship Scheme to Promote Diversity and Inclusion in Brewing Industry
To coincide with International Women’s Day, the London Brewers Alliance (LBA) is excited to announce plans for its new Mentorship Scheme.
The program, which is open to all staff of LBA member breweries, aims to provide opportunities for junior brewery staff to partner with experienced professionals and to encourage more opportunities for less represented groups within the brewing industry.
The LBA Mentorship Scheme will be designed to promote diversity and inclusion within the brewing industry by providing support and guidance to those who may face barriers to advancement. This includes women, people of colour, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other underrepresented groups.
Through the mentorship program, mentees will have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, gain valuable insights into the business, and develop new skills to help them progress in their careers. The program is also designed to build upon the supportive network within the London beer industry, fostering collaboration and community.
As a trade association that represents the interests of breweries in London, the LBA is committed to promoting and supporting the growth of the city's brewing industry, while also championing diversity and inclusion. With the launch of the Mentorship Scheme, the LBA hopes to take a step further towards its goal of creating a more inclusive and diverse brewing industry.
Speaking about the new scheme, LBA Chair, Gawain Cox said:
"We're thrilled to announce today that we are developing this Mentorship Scheme, which we believe will provide valuable support and guidance to junior staff across the LBA's membership. At a time when the industry is facing increased pressures, but is also continuing to evolve at such a rapid pace, it's more important than ever to ensure that everyone has access to the support they need to progress in their careers.
The launch of the scheme comes directly from feedback from our members, and we're excited to be partnering with a number of key providers to ensure the success of the program. We're hopeful that, with the support of key people in the brewing industry, the scheme will grow and become something of an exemplar model with which others can partner or use as a template to deliver similar opportunities."
The LBA is inviting all staff from its member breweries to apply for the scheme, while reaching out beyond its membership to welcome industry professionals who could offer a few hours each month to support the scheme as a mentor.
