Huge news alert! The time has finally come to hand over the keys to the Gravity Well brewhouse.

We’re looking to bring someone very special into the Gravity Well family; not just a talented brewer but someone that will be responsible for managing all aspects of production and recipe development.

As well as being an exceptional brewer, the ideal candidate will have a passion for research and development with a view to elevating our output to best in class.

Given the small size of our operation, this will necessarily be a broad and demanding role that includes elements of both production and management.

Salary: £45,000 + share of profits.

The role:

  • Head Brewer position reporting directly to the company founder
  • Responsibility for all aspects of production, packaging, recipe development, raw material ordering and ongoing technical research
  • As a tiny brewery, the role will involve brewing, packaging, cellaring, yeast management and all related jobs; there will be no dedicated cellaring and/or packaging staff
  • Ensuring that SOPs are followed meticulously whilst constantly seeking ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness; updating SOPs regularly
  • Responsibility for ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations including environmental health, health and safety at work, product labelling requirements etc
  • Liaising with the sales director to forward plan appropriate beer releases and keeping the production schedule updated accordingly
  • Accurate record keeping of production using Breww
  • Keeping a maintenance record of all critical systems and equipment and assisting with cleaning and maintenance as required
  • Responsibility for the assistant brewer’s work schedule and continued learning and development
  • 40 hours per week including some cellaring hours most weekends

About you:

  • An extremely competent technical brewer with a minimum of 5 years’ industry experience and a track record of producing market-leading hop-forward beers
  • A creative flair and desire to keep researching and learning how to continually improve and innovate
  • Able to work independently and as part of a small team; multitasking to ensure all tasks are completed within the working day, which may involve concurrent brewing and packaging
  • Clean driving licence and forklift licence will be favoured
